"Eight of us (grandparents, two children with partners and two grandchildren had a lovely week in Dovecote Cottage. The cottage had all we needed. It was lovely to all have tea together around the big dining table and the weather was kind enough for us to eat out in the charming garden a couple of times. This was our first stay in the Wye / Dean area and the cottage was very well placed for us to make the most of it. The St.Briavels area has a wealth of really interesting and good quality food and drink producers which we enjoyed sampling together that week. Lovely.”
Hi Valerie - I just wanted to say thank you so much for our lovely mini-break at Coachman's Cottage. We enjoyed it enormously and seemed to pack an awful lot in to a short time. 😀 we hope to come again to continue exploring such beautiful surroundings. You have a wonderful corner of the country!! Many thanks Fay, Ian & girls x

"We had a really wonderful stay at the Coachman’s Cottage and the welcome from the team was terrific. If you are looking for a well equipped, quiet base for a fun time in the Wye Valley then this is the spot for you. We will definitely be looking to book again. Thank you.”
I want to first thank you for all your support and help. We so enjoyed our time there and the cottage was a joy and just right.

Thank you for such a lovely stay, what a beautiful cottage in a beautiful place!

Kind regards,
Kate
We stayed in the Coachman's Cottage for three nights in April whilst we were in the area for a wedding, the booking process was easy and Val and Ann sent useful instructions to help us find the cottage should the SatNav signal fail! We had a lovely welcome from Val and Sooty and were very comfortable all weekend. The cottage had everything we needed, was warm and cosy, a well equipped kitchen and was easily spacious enough for five of us. We were lucky enough to have stunning weather all weekend so ate breakfast outside each morning with beautiful views of the countryside. We will definitely come back again to explore more of the local area - Thank you Val and Ann (and Sooty!).
Best wishes,
Charlotte
Hired the Coach House as a base for a weekend stag-do of paint balling, BBQ, beers and generally being in the country. The house was perfect for the 10 of us with huge kitchen area for us to all eat and play poker in, BBQ area just outside and masses of communal space to generally hang-out. The scenery around was great, and made for a fantastic break from London (only took us a couple of hours to get there). With a couple of cars we were able to get to nearby paintaballing, westons cider brewery and could quite easily have spent another couple of days just exploring surrounding country side. Bedrooms each had great character, hundreds of bathrooms and Val, the landlady provided us with a thorough tour of the place before she left, making sure we had everything we needed. Could quite easily see myself going back for long weekend next year summer time.
Great location, spacious comfortable living areas, clean, lots of bedrooms, nice character and perfect for us as a large family to all get together and eat around 1 table every night. Highly recommended to others.
We were looking for a large and friendly house in the Forest of Dean/Gloucestershire area for a weekend-away with friends, and struck gold when we came across The Coach House.

It did everything we wanted, meaning we all left having enjoyed a fantastic weekend with each other, rather than remembering anything bad about a property.

- The bedrooms were fantastic, with real character; we were a mix of couples, singles, and young children, and the set-up works well for each.
- The kitchen/dining area is a gem - a great big space, with everything located round the edges and a long table in the middle - fantastic for meals together, and for hanging out as food is prepared.
- The lounge next door again is a great size for a group of 20 or so to hang out together; comfy and cosy for relaxing together over a cup of tea.
- We went for a lovely long Saturday afternoon walk from the Coach House, which is easy to do when you're in such brilliant surroundings, away from any urban sprawl.

We also rented the adjoining Dovecote Cottage, so we could take more friends with us, which we had no qualms about, although we only needed it for bedrooms.

The fact that there's no mobile signal for most networks in the house itself (though there is some in the car park) is a blessing in disguise; you focus on each other, rather than checking your email all the time.

We've no complaints and only recommendation for this place... in fact a friend is already booking another weekend here based on our advice, and I'd love to have a reunion back here next year.
Three families (six adults and six children) rented the Coach House - what a gem! Six bedrooms and five bathrooms meant that we all had our own space, while the huge kitchen (and conservatory / dining room) allowed us all to cook and eat together comfortably. The children loved exploring the house and garden. Beautiful surroundings with loads for families to do in the area. Garden probably not ideal for very small children due to stream and pond.
We have just returned from a weekend away at The Coach house and The Dovecote - a group of 13 adults and 8 small children. This property was perfect for our needs. Lots of space. Really well equipped and cosy. The support and assistance offered in terms of local area knowledge, travel to the property and information to get the most from the properties was great, Val was most helpful. It rained all weekend and we still enjoyed the visit just being in such a lovely 'home from home'. Very tranquil. If away on a beautiful weekend or in the summer this would be a great choice the grounds and setting are beautiful and would be ideal for BBQs and long afternoons in the garden. We hope to come back one day for a less wet weekend! The stream does mean children have to be supervised at all times in the garden but they certainly loved playing in their wellies in the garden as did our dog! The regular visit from the ducks added to the experience. There are lots of beautiful areas to explore near by. Thank you for such a memorable weekend.
A really nice property to get a large group (including small children) together and to explore the forest of dean. A VERY well stocked kitchen and loved the fab huge kitchen table to fit everyone around. Loads for outdoors lovers to do in the vicinity including a beautiful bluebell wood within easy stroll which the kids loved.
The Coach House is a great property and ideal for a large group. The gardens is lovely (although because of the rubbish bank holiday weather, we didn't spend that much time in it). However, the living areas and kitchen are plenty big enough to accommodate a large group even if the weather is less than great. Valerie (owner) was really helpful and made sure that we knew where to find everything. The house is also in a great location and close to plenty of walks and visitor attractions. I am sure that we will be back!
I booked The Coach House for a weekend break for a group of 12 friends. Two of us were celebrating our 30th birthdays, so we wanted to pull the "old gang" together to celebrate. I picked the perfect location!

The house itself is full of character - a nice, large kitchen and many wonderful bedrooms tucked away all over the place, all crammed with books and paintings that really make the house feel lived in. Outside there is a stunning garden, pond and a stream that you can hear from the kitchen. One afternoon we were lucky to have a gang of ducks come right up to the kitchen door, asking for some food!

We spent most of the time eating, drinking and playing games in the comfortable living room. We did very little exploring but did make a trip to Tintern Abbey which was absolutely breathtaking.

All in all everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the Coach House and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to spend some quality time with a large family or group of friends.
We needed a large house with plenty of space for a family celebration. There are 14 of us,
6 children aged 8 to 15, three sets of parents and 2 grandparents. We rented The Coach
House and The Coachman's Cottage for a long weekend. It suited the occasion perfectly
and was very comfortable for us all. The huge kitchen table was great for everyone to sit
around for meals and the sitting room also accommodated us all in the evenings. We enjoyed the rambling gardens and following the rushing waters of the stream over rustic
bridges and waterfalls. Val was very welcoming and informative. Apart from not being able to sort out the central heating we could not have chosen a more suitable venue for our get together.
This was the perfect house for a special family gathering, set in a beautiful part of the country, not far from towns and places to visit. The fact that it was away from other houses was great too, and it was so lovely and peaceful.
The size of the property was perfect- plenty of space to relax in and a picturesque garden to explore. Val made us feel very welcome, and we felt looked after for the whole weekend. The house had everything we needed, including the biggest dining table we've ever seen! Everyone agreed that it was the perfect choice, and we had a fabulous weekend there. We'd love to return one day, preferably in the Summer so we can make the most of the fantastic garden!
Painfree booking and good service from the owner.

Charming old country house set in lovely grounds. Inside the decorations and furnishings enhance the old country house character. Plenty of space for people, mountain bikes, cars etc.

Located within easy reach of the Forest of Dean and Wye valley. Great for walking, cycling and just relaxing.

Sadly, there were no pubs or shops within reasonable walking distance and some of our party would have appreciated a WiFi or phone signal!

Overall, we had a great time and have fond memories of the Coach House.
This group of three properties was ideal for a family gathering. Plenty to do in the local area, gardens to sit and play in and access to the hotel next door for swimming. Space to eat together and all the equipment etc. one could want - including BBQ that the weather was kind enough to allow us to use. Feels very homely with plenty of pictures, soft furnishings etc. Top tip, bring swimming costumes - not all our party had realised that the pool was available. Hotel was also happy to let some of us park cars in its car park which was helpful as parking is tight.
Val was keen that we should enjoy ourselves and anything that didn't work was soon put right. Do make sure you ask for the water to be heated for long enough, we were Ok the first morning, but showers ran cold when we all wanted to be up and out on the second and third days. Other than that we were very comfortable and will certainly book again for a large party.
We rented the Coach House and the Coachman's Cottage for a family weekend to celebrate my 70th birthday. There were 10 adults and 5 small children. It is very difficult with limited literary skills to convey the feeling of wellbeing that the house gives. I feels like a large family home with plenty of space and an awesome inventory of equipment. We wanted for nothing. The garden is spacious enough for several games to take place simultaneously and anyone wishing to have some privacy or find a quiet corner was spoilt for choice without having to resort to using the bedrooms. This is a house that invites you to feel at home. The nearby hotel is very hospitable with an excellent coffee shop and proved very obliging when one of our party needed to use their wifi.

I was horrified when I realised that I'd booked a house without wifi for a bunch of obsessive technophiles but we all commented that the experience of being there without wifi had greatly improved our enjoyment of the weekend - we actually talked to each other without interruption from the world outside!!

It is very accessible to the West Country, being only 13 miles up the Wye Valley from the Severn Bridge and although remote it is only 2 miles from the nearest grocery shop and several pubs.

I cannot finish with mentioning the amazing cooker: the Everhot, and it is a shear joy to use - its worth staying there just to cook on it.

Many thanks to Valerie who .is the perfect hostess/landlady and ensured that we knew she wanted us to enjoy the house.
We gather together as a large family group every year, coming from both ends of the country. It is extremely difficult to find suitable properties with enough bedrooms and a large space where we can all eat together. This is the second year we have used The Coach House together with the Cottage. They are both very well resourced and comfortable and a good time was had by all again. Thank you
My partner and I stayed at the Coachmans Cottage in August at short notice for a short break, the booking process was very easy (ensure you go directly to the Cottage instead of through a booking agency as you'll save on the booking fees) and the communication from the management was excellent. The cottage was perfect for the two of us (and dog) with all the required bedding, towels, utensils etc. The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty of walks to go on (which the management give you print outs of) and local pubs to go to. We also looked round the larger cottages that adjoin the smaller cottage for future bookings, these also looked fantastic! I would defiantly recommend this to anyone thinking of a trip to the Cotswolds
We had a wonderful, peaceful space for a gathering of friends for my 50th - What a lovely spot! We hope to return in other seasons as the place is so special!
The Coach House was wonderful. We all very much enjoyed the spacious kitchen with the Aga and the splendid large table. The garden was also great.
What a marvelous weekend in a simply stunning house. The kids have embraced the place with wide-eyed wonder. Thanks so much, we're all thoroughly chilled and refreshed.
Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. The setting is beautiful and the house was perfect for us. Thanks
Thank you for a wonderful playing weekend. What a kitchen table!! We lived in the kitchen all weekend. Lovely house - lovely settings - fabulous weekend.
We've had an amazing weekend - what a lovely place, fantastic kitchen! We'll definitely be coming again!
English, Welsh, Kiwi and countless Aussies spent a very enjoyable (and surprisingly sunny) long Easter weekend at the Coach House. Great house, great local pub and fantastic grounds.
The children have loved the garden and adults enjoyed sunning themselves in the conservatory! We also had an action packed canoeing day on Saturday! We will definitely be back!
The girls have had a fabulous hen weekend in a very special place - perfect! what excuse can we dream up to come back.
Fourth and largest group holiday. had a fab time, although kept losing where our bedroom was House was so big!!! Was lucky weather was beautiful so enjoyed the garden and BBQ. Saw lots of wildlife from bats to badgers. Had lots of family friendly fun.
